Bochi + Penni | Zilker Clubhouse | Austin, TX

One thing the past few years have taught me is that you cannot take life for granted. Or time, for that matter.

A few months before their wedding, I met with Bochi and Penni at Radio Coffee and chatted about their wedding. I loved all the little nods to Austin they were planning to bring to their intimate wedding filled with a lot of out of town guests. With a gorgeous view of downtown, they decided to hold their wedding at the Zilker Clubhouse. With cupcakes from the amazing South Austin own, Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, a guitar for the guests to sign, a poet providing on the spot unique poems, a Photo Booth, dancing under the strands of lights … it was a perfect, magical evening. Everything one could hope for.

I’ve shot a fair number of weddings over the years and what I loved the most about Bochi and Penni’s wedding was the toasts. Usually, during toasts guests can get restless and start chatting, quietly … but this was not the case that night. Everyone listened. Laughed. Loved. Agreed with the sentiments given. It was – amazing.

I know this blog post comes some time later, but to Bochi and Penni – I thank you both for allowing me to come and document such an amazing day in your lives. I hope it was as perfect as you had hoped for.

Jennifer + Sarah| Villa St. Clair | Manor, TX

What a year 2017 was! I was so busy between work and home life, that I didn’t even realize the last time I posted a blog! Tsk!

Clearly, 2018 was just about the same. How is already 2019?!?! Perhaps I should make a New Year’s resolution to be better about posting!

~~~
I met Jennifer thru a mutual friend back in college that she worked with at Chuy’s (which for those of you who don’t live in Austin, their creamy jalapeño is addictive – but I digress). Back then I was taking a studio photography class and needed models. See where this is going? 😉 I remember Jennifer telling me that I would one day photograph her wedding. My 20-something year old self was completely flattered and super excited at the notion.
And she kept her word.
We won’t go into how long ago that statement was made, but I was so honored when she messaged me and wanted to talk about her beautiful wedding to this amazing woman, Sarah – that I got teary-eyed. Which is not much different from how I was while shooting their ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in that courtyard. They were surrounded by so many supportive family and friends who love them dearly and have seen both of them thru many stages and obstacles in life.
It was one giant family. And I loved every minute.
To Jennifer and Sarah,  Thank you for trusting me to capture such an important moment in both of your lives. Much love to you both!
Southwest School of Art | Sarah + Manny | San Antonio, TX
Tap Tap. Is this still on?
It has been way too long since I last did a blog post. I swear I thought I’d have all the time in the world to get this out and apparently all the time meant, eleven months. Better late than never, right?!
Sarah and Manny are two amazing people! And I am forever grateful they trusted me to capture such an amazing chapter in their lives. Their ceremony and reception were both held at the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio, TX. I will be honest, I am not overly familiar with San Antonio, but when I met with them to discuss possibly shooting their wedding and they walked me around the school – I was in love. I could see why Sarah held the school and it’s grounds in such a special place in her heart, and what better place to start the next chapter in life than to have it at a place that was so instrumental into where she is at now.
Set with a carnival theme, they paid attention to every little detail. From the table settings, to the carnival games, to the desserts and Photo Booth backdrop – this wedding was beautiful. They were surrounded not only by the natural beauty of the venue, but also with love from all of their family and friends.
My sweet husband is from San Antonio and always remarks on the city’s love for Heavy Metal. And he was right. Precisely the moment Sarah was to walk down the aisle, they were blasted by a nearby metal band performing outside. It’s moments like these that make me love my job – the moments that are completely unplanned and add another interesting point to the story.
Sarah and Manny, I wish you the utmost love and happiness and I look forward to seeing you again, hopefully soon.
One Eleven East | Mathilde + Hunter | Hutto, TX
Last Fall I met Mathilde and Hunter at a coffee shop in South Austin. We talked about everything from our family backgrounds, to food, to how they met at Alabama. I immediately felt a connection with these two amazing people and was super excited when they decided to book me for their wedding!
Thank you, Mathilde and Hunter for having Steve and I cover your wedding! We were both incredibly honored. And hope you love the photos as much as we loved taking them.
Side note: I am not sure if Steve told you, but he went to OU … next time we meet up I’ll let you know how I broke the news to him … 😉
Having hired a plethora of really talented wedding professionals, I am excited to share with you their wedding story.
