Engagement

Austin Wedding Photographer | Engagement Photos | Hillside Farmacy | East side | Austin, TX

When Kate and Russ met with me back in the spring they told me that since they were not having a big wedding, photos were very important to them. So, we discussed not only doing an engagement shoot Friday evening, but also one early Saturday morning. Our original plan didn’t completely come to fruition due to not being able to gain access to a location, so instead we ventured around East Austin. My favorite spot? Hillside Farmacy. I have not had the time to stop in and eat but the food looks and smells incredible! It also helps that there is SO much to work with inside the building.

Since Saturday was their actual wedding day, it made for a very LONG day. But it was worth every minute. We had a great time and it was such a wonderful way to start the day!

What an incredible couple of days! I first met Kate and Russ after many email exchanges while I was in Belize. Kate was super patient about my response time and agreed to meet up after my return. We met up at Spiderhouse coffee and chatted for what seemed like hours about their wedding and giving suggestions of places in Austin to check out – since they’re both from out of town.

Since their wedding is more of an elopement, which having done one myself, I was super excited. We agreed to do several “engagement” photo sessions before the wedding and of course cover all the fun stuff they had planned for the day.

I loved every minute of the last two days!

Enjoy the first of several blog posts. ~s.

I was super excited when Amelia and Adam approached me about shooting their wedding next February. I was even more excited when they wanted to do an engagement shoot. I really cannot judge couples who do not want to do engagement shoots, as my husband and I didn’t do one either, but it’s so important to work together before your ceremony in that fashion. It gives the couple a sense of how you work and, as the photographer, I can see how they respond to the camera.

All in all, we had a great time and there were plenty of laughs to be heard. I cannot wait for their wedding!

After a long week of work and SXSW, I met up with Lauren and Matt downtown to shoot their engagement photos. With an overcast morning, it was wonderful to have such a beautiful, sunny afternoon!

What an adorable couple! I had so much fun with them and their sweet pup, Skippy! I am super excited for them and their destination wedding later this summer!

Congratulations, Lauren & Matt!
